Actress Jaya Ahsan is enjoying one of the most successful phases of her career.
Following the Eid releases of Tandav and Utsab, two of her films– Dear Maa and Putulnacher Itikatha– were premiered in Kolkata this July and August.
While promoting her films, Jaya spoke not just about cinema but also about her personal life in an interview with Kolkata-based YouTube channel Indulge Express, where she, for the first time, candidly acknowledged being in a relationship and shared her thoughts on marriage.

When asked if there was someone special in her life, Jaya replied, “Yes, of course. A person cannot live alone. Yes, there is.”
She revealed that her “special person” is not from the film industry, though her involvement with him was not a conscious decision to avoid industry relationships.
“It just happened,” she said.
“We’ve been together for many years,” Jaya continued.

“For me, it’s important to be good friends first before becoming partners, and to remain friends– and we are exactly that. He tolerates a lot from me. As an actress, I travel frequently, sometimes staying in Kolkata for work, and he never minds. He lets me work. Of course, everyone wants to be together, but that’s not always possible for us. I’m a very private person, and so is he. We try to live in our own way.”
When asked about one quality she likes in her partner, Jaya said, “He’s very calm.”
The host noted that she is also calm, to which Jaya replied, “Yes, maybe that’s why I like him.”

On whether she plans to marry him, Jaya said: I can’t say anything right now. I don’t know if I’ll want to marry soon, or even at all. But yes, I respect the idea of marriage and living together. I just haven’t made that decision.
When asked if she was “not ready” for marriage, Jaya explained it’s not about readiness. “I actually have a fear, an anxiety about it,” she said, acknowledging it could be linked to bitterness from past relationships.

Jaya also revealed that she is in talks for several new films and web series, though she prefers not to share details just yet.
