The National Citizen Party (NCP) issued show-cause notices to five of its senior leaders, including North and South Chief Coordinators Sarjis Alam and Hasnat Abdullah, for visiting Cox’s Bazar without prior party approval during the observance of the first anniversary of the ‘July Uprising’, a state-recognised day of national significance.

The notices by NCP’s Joint Member-Secretary (Office) Saleh Uddin Sifat stated that while state and party programmes marking the anniversary were underway on August 5the leaders traveled to Cox’s Bazar without prior party authorisation.

The notices termed their actions “insignificant and irresponsible.”

The five leaders served with notices are: Sarjis Alam, Chief Organiser (North), Hasnat Abdullah, Chief Organiser (South), Nasiruddin Patwari, Chief Coordinator, Tasnim Zara, Senior Joint Member-Secretary and Khaled Saifullah, Joint Convener.

They have been instructed to appear in person before Party Convener Nahid Islam and Member-Secretary Akhtar Hossain within 24 hours and submit written explanations.
