The Meteorological Department has indicated that there might be a continued likelihood of rain or thunderstorms over the next five days. Additionally, during this period, various regions of the country might experience Kalbaishakhi storms.

On Monday (May 6), the Meteorological Department released a 72-hour forecast revealing this information. The forecast was initially announced in a bulletin released yesterday afternoon.

The synoptic situation mentioned in the bulletin extends from West Bengal through the southwestern parts of Bangladesh to the north-western Bay of Bengal, indicating a low-pressure area.

The forecast from 9 AM today, Monday, for the next 72 hours suggests that areas in the Khulna, Barisal, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions might experience rain or thunderstorms accompanied by sudden gusty winds. In Dhaka and Chattogram divisions, a few places might see similar weather, and one or two locations in Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions could also be affected. Additionally, isolated hailstorms might occur in some areas.

Furthermore, a mild to moderate heatwave is sweeping over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, and Barisal divisions and could subside in most places.

The daytime temperature across the country may decrease by 1-3 degrees Celsius, while the nighttime temperature may slightly increase.

For Dhaka, wind speeds from the southwest/south could range from 10 to 15 kilometers per hour, with temporary gusts reaching 30 to 40 kilometers per hour.

On the second day, Tuesday, starting at 9 AM:
Many places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barisal divisions, and some in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions may experience temporary gusty/ stormy winds along with rain or thunderstorms. Isolated hailstorms may also occur.

However, the daytime temperature might slightly decrease nationwide, and the nighttime temperature may remain nearly unchanged.

On the third day, Wednesday, starting at 9 AM:
Some places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barisal divisions, and a few in Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions may experience temporary gusty/ stormy winds along with rain or thunderstorms. Again, isolated hailstorms may occur.

However, the daytime and nighttime temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged across the country.

Yesterday’s bulletin stated that from 4 PM for the next 72 hours, isolated Kalbaishakhi storms may sweep over  Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, moving from the west/northwest. These storms may bring thunderstorms and isolated hail.

The extended five-day weather forecast suggests that the tendency for rain or thunderstorms could continue unabated.
