The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has reported that a mild cold wave is currently affecting Dinajpur and Panchagarh, with possibilities of further intensification and spread to other regions. Dense fog continues to envelop most parts of the country both day and night, exacerbating the cold conditions. Over the next three days, both day and night temperatures are expected to drop nationwide, deepening the chill.
The weather forecast for Sunday, January 26, until 6 PM, indicates that the weather will remain dry across the country with partly cloudy skies. Light to moderate fog is expected to form during late nights and early mornings.
The cold wave in Dinajpur and Panchagarh is likely to persist and may extend to nearby areas. In the southern parts of the country, night temperatures are expected to decrease by 1-2°C, while other regions may also experience a slight drop in temperature. Day temperatures, however, are likely to remain unchanged during this period.
For the period from Sunday evening to Monday evening (January 27), the forecast remains similar, with dry weather and light to moderate fog expected during the late hours of the night and early morning. Both day and night temperatures are predicted to decrease slightly across the country.
The ongoing cold wave and temperature drops have significantly impacted daily life, especially in the northern districts, where people are already facing biting cold. The dense fog is also disrupting transportation, particularly air and river traffic, during the early hours of the day. Vulnerable groups, including children and the elderly, are advised to take extra precautions to protect themselves from the cold.
