Hollywood icons Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have finally reached a divorce settlement after an eight-year legal battle, according to Jolie’s lawyer. The couple, who married in 2014 and have six children, were among the entertainment industry’s most prominent duos. Their high-profile relationship, dubbed “Brangelina” by the media, began on the set of the 2005 film Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
Jolie filed for divorce in 2016, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The proceedings later revealed allegations that Pitt was abusive toward Jolie and two of their children during a private jet incident that year. While Jolie raised these accusations in court, Pitt denied them, and a police investigation resulted in no charges. Pitt’s legal team has yet to comment on the divorce settlement.
The couple’s legal battles extended beyond their separation. After announcing their divorce, they became embroiled in a custody dispute over their six children. In 2021, they reached a joint custody arrangement, seemingly resolving that aspect of their case. However, other conflicts persist.
A key unresolved issue is their French vineyard, Chateau Miraval, which they purchased in 2008. The property became a centerpiece of their relationship, even hosting their wedding. In 2022, Pitt accused Jolie of selling her stake in the vineyard to Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler without his knowledge or consent, sparking another lawsuit. Jolie has not publicly commented on the legal dispute, and it is unclear whether the divorce settlement will impact this case.
Both Jolie and Pitt have maintained successful careers amid their personal struggles. Jolie, known for her performances in Girl, Interrupted and Changeling, recently completed filming Maria, a biopic about opera singer Maria Callas. Pitt, celebrated for roles in Fight Club and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, is currently working on the Formula One movie F1, where he stars as veteran driver Sonny Hayes.
