The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a 48-hour heat alert for five divisions, including Dhaka, due to an impending heatwave. The alert is in effect for Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barishal divisions, and the high humidity levels may cause increased discomfort during this period.
Meteorologist Omar Faruk informed Channel i Online that the heat alert was issued following the end of recent rainfall and the onset of a new heatwave. He stated that there is a possibility of rain starting from the 19th of this month, which could continue for the remainder of the month. Regarding potential cyclones, he mentioned that it is too early to provide any confirmation.
Earlier, in a notification signed by Meteorologist Abul Kalam Mallik, it was stated that the ongoing heatwave over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barishal divisions might persist for the next 48 hours from 6 PM on Wednesday.
