The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka has announced a critical update for Bangladeshi citizens applying for U.S. visas. As of today, August 11, 2024, passport delivery services have resumed at the Document Delivery Center in Dhaka and the Premium Delivery Centers in Sylhet and Chittagong.
While this development provides relief to many visa applicants, the Embassy has confirmed that all visa appointments scheduled between July 18-28, 2024, and August 4-23, 2024, have been canceled or rescheduled. Applicants affected by these cancellations are urged to log in to the system and reschedule their appointments.
Student visa applicants, in particular, are advised to consider applying from India if their appointments were impacted. The Embassy’s local helpline is now operational, offering assistance on business days during standard hours, effective from August 8, 2024.
Fee collection services remain available through authorized partners during business hours as declared by the Central Bank. However, the Embassy remains open for limited operations only, with all routine consular services suspended until further notice.
