Anti-discrimination students issued a 24-hour ultimatum with three demands related to the quota reform movement. They announced new programs if their demands were not met within 24 hours.
The demands include the return of arrested and missing students, withdrawal of all false cases, and holding all responsible for violence, from ministers to constables, accountable.
On Saturday, July 27, student leaders made this announcement during an online press conference.
Movement coordinator Abdul Hannan Masud announced that the Health Force and Legal Force would be formed at all levels on Sunday, July 28, to gather information on the injured and deceased nationwide. He accused the government of committing genocide against students with political identities and demanded an international investigation.
He clarified their three key points, including the formation of an independent permanent commission to ensure the quota system’s stability, following discussions with stakeholders, especially students.
He demanded the release of falsely accused and detained students within 24 hours, warning of stricter measures than the ‘Bangla Blockade’ if their demands were not met.
Students plan to carry out graffiti and wall-writing campaigns across the country on Sunday.
On the night of July 25, the DB arrested three anti-discrimination student movement coordinators—Nahid Islam, Asif Mahmud, and Abu Bakr Majumdar—while they were receiving treatment at Gonoshasthaya Kendra Hospital in the capital.
Earlier, former DUCSU Social Service Secretary Akhtar Hossain was arrested from the TSC area of Dhaka University. Several students involved in the movement were also arrested in various cases by the police and DB.
