The airbase in Paharkanchanpur, Tangail, has been renamed ‘Bir Uttam Sultan Mahmud Airbase.’
Today, Saturday (May 8), the airbase was named after Bir Uttam Sultan Mahmud, the commander of the Kiloflight in the Liberation War and a former Chief of the Air Force.
The airbase was inaugurated by Air Chief Marshal Shaikh Abdul Hannan. He was accompanied by Bir Uttam Sultan Mahmud’s brother, Impress Group and Channel I director Zahiruddin Mahmud Mamun, Sultan Mahmud’s nephew Adnan Mahmud, and senior officials of the Air Force.
