Two advisers of the interim government made Facebook posts at midnight hinting that the much-anticipated “July Declaration” is set to be unveiled soon.
Shortly after midnight on Saturday (August 2), Information Adviser Md. Mahfuj Alam wrote on his verified Facebook account: “The July Declaration is now a reality. It will be announced by August 5. Thanks to everyone for keeping the issue alive through public aspiration and paving the way for its implementation.”
Around the same time, Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, Adviser to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives, posted briefly on his Facebook profile: “The July Declaration is coming…”
According to sources, the draft of the July Declaration has already been finalised. It is expected to be formally announced by Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus no later than August 5.
Insiders revealed that while drafting the declaration, the significant role of the “Anti-Discrimination Student Movement” was taken into serious consideration. Initially, the draft described students as the “primary leaders of the uprising,” but in the final version, the phrase was revised to: “the uprising was called at the behest of the student movement.”
