In the match between Turkey and Georgia on the first matchday of Group F in the Euros, there was everything a good match needs. The Georgians had created many chances but could not profit from them. Georgia’s goalkeeper Mamardashvili had made many saves to keep a chance of drawing the match for his country. The last minutes of the match was pure chaos. Georgia had a chance to equalize but Turkey got the better of them and started a counter attack in which Akturkoglu scored in the 97th minute. The match was full of excitement, anxiousness, and muddle.

Georgia had kicked off the match from the centre of the pitch. Into the 10th minute, the Turkish defensive midfielder Kaan Ayhan took a powerful shot from outside of the box which ended up hitting the post. 25th minute: Turkey’s left back Kadioglu delivered a cross inside the box, which was cleared by the Georgian defender, but Turkey’s right back Mert Muldur scored a volley into the top right corner of the post. Turkish forward Kenan Yildiz could have made it 2-0 but he fell in an offside position. In the 32nd minute, Georgia’s impressive passing interplay led to Georgia’s forward Mikautadze to score and equalize.

The second half started and Georgia seemed to have woken up and were attacking Turkey but were denied every time. In the 65th minute, Georgia had lost the ball on their left flank by Kaan Ayhan’s tackle, Turkey’s no.8 got the ball and finessed it into the top left corner of the post which was impossible to save by Mamardashvili.  Georgia gave a response by the world class dribbling of Kochorashvili, beating a few defenders and even the goalkeeper but his shot hit the post. Mamardashvili made a save in the 87th minute to avoid the Turks making it 3-1. Georgia got a free kick in the 97th minute close to the halfway line, every one of the Georgian team, including the keeper went to Türkiye’s box.

Georgian superstar Kvaratskhelia’s free kick was saved by the Turkish keeper which gave Georgia a chance to score but was denied by Turkey. Georgia got a corner but was punched away by the Turkish keeper and Akturkoglu went on to score for Turkey to make it 3-1 in the last second of the match.

In conclusion, the match between Turkey and Georgia was a thrilling spectacle, filled with drama and relentless action. Turkey’s early lead through Mert Muldur’s volley was quickly countered by Georgia’s Mikautadze, setting the stage for a fiercely contested second half. Georgia’s persistent attacks were met with resilient Turkish defense and remarkable saves by both goalkeepers. The defining moment came in the dying seconds when Akturkoglu capitalized on a counterattack, sealing a 3-1 victory for Turkey. This match was a testament to the excitement and unpredictability of football, leaving fans anticipating the next encounters in the tournament.
