A tragic collision between a train and a microbus in Faridpur’s Sadar Upazila has left three people dead and two others injured. The accident occurred on Tuesday, January 7, around 12:00 PM at the Gherda rail crossing in Munshibazar area of Gherda Union.

Upon receiving the news, local police and the Faridpur Fire Service, with the help of residents, rushed to the scene and began rescue operations. Efforts are underway to clear the wreckage and transport the injured to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

As of now, the identities of the deceased have not been confirmed. The injured victims are receiving emergency care, but their condition remains unknown.

Eyewitnesses reported that the microbus was attempting to cross the railway track when the speeding train struck it, leading to the fatal collision. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine whether negligence or faulty rail crossing signals contributed to the incident.

Train accidents at unmanned or poorly managed rail crossings are a recurring problem in the country. Local residents have long complained about the lack of adequate safety measures at these crossings. This latest incident is expected to renew calls for better regulation and improved safety infrastructure.

More updates are expected as investigations continue.
