Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Adviser on Private Industry and Investment, Salman F Rahman, expressed optimism that the curfew would be completely lifted within the next seven days.
On Sunday (July 28), after a meeting with business leaders, he emphasized the importance of returning to normalcy.
Salman F Rahman stated that the curfew relaxation hours are being extended and that normal life will resume soon. Business leaders raised concerns about container congestion at Chittagong port, excessive charges, some issues with the NBR, and requested concessions on bank interest rates or delayed installment payments.
The government imposed a nationwide curfew and deployed the military on the night of July 19 amid the violence surrounding the quota reform movement. Executive orders declared general holidays on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday following the weekend, and the curfew was gradually relaxed for a few hours each day. However, it has not been fully lifted yet.
