A Rohingya man was killed by terrorist gunfire in the Rohingya camp in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar. The deceased, Mohammad Alam, was a resident of E block in the Nayapara registered camp.
On Saturday morning (May 11), around 8 AM, the incident occurred at the Nayapara registered camp, according to the block leader Badrul Islam of the camp.
He reported that early Saturday morning in the E block of the Nayapara registered camp, a group of terrorists stopped Mohammad Alam in front of a tea shop. They then shot him in the head several times before fleeing the scene, resulting in his immediate death. Following the incident, a police team arrived at the scene.
The Officer In Charge (OC) of Teknaf Model Police Station, Md. Osman Gani, stated that upon receiving news of the death of a Rohingya due to terrorist gunfire in the Nayapara registered camp, a police team was dispatched to the location. After recovering the body, procedures were underway to prepare the inquest report and send the body to Cox’s Bazar District Hospital for autopsy.
The police have indicated that this murder was due to previous enmities among different terrorist groups within the Rohingya camp.
