BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has warned that the upcoming national election will turn into a “fearsome” one if illegal arms are not recovered beforehand.
Speaking a programme marking the 81st birthday of former prime minister and BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in front of the party’s central office at Naya Paltan on Sunday, Rizvi made the remarks.
He distributed raincoats to rickshaw and van pullers.
Rizvi said the interim government lacks no sincerity in running the country, but alleged that certain political groups are creating situations that echo “the footsteps of fascism.”
Rizvi further added that if there is any need to change national policies, it should be done by an elected government in the interest of the people and the country.
“There is no benefit in unnecessary procrastination over the election,” he said.
