The chairman of controversial ‘Child and Old Age Care’ ashram, Milton Samaddar, has been arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective (DB) Police.
Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid, the Additional Commissioner of Police (Detective) of DMP, confirmed the arrest to Channel I Online, stating that the operation was conducted on Wednesday night in the Mirpur area of the capital.
Recently, Milton Samaddar has been accused of horrific frauds hidden behind the guise of a humanitarian. He faces allegations of embezzling funds collected in the name of helping the helpless and even stealing organs, including kidneys, from them. Further serious accusations are now surfacing, including the creation of fake death certificates and land grabbing.
An old age home named ‘Child and Old Age Care,’ built under the pretext of serving destitute and needy people, is now at the center of these scandals, which have gone viral on social media.
In light of these issues, the National Human Rights Commission has directed the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner and the Director General of the Department of Social Services to investigate and take appropriate legal action.
