Media outlets will be shut down if sycophancy continues: Home Affairs Adviser

If sycophancy continues, media outlets will be shut down, stated Brigadier General (Retd.) M Sakhawat Hossain, the interim government’s Home Affairs Adviser.

He made this remark today, Sunday, at 12:30 PM while visiting injured police officers at the Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital.

He said, “I assure you, if the media continues to engage in sycophancy, they will be shut down. Do not invite sycophants on media platforms. Media should not be sycophantic. A country sinks when the media does not speak the truth.”

Brigadier General (Retd.) M Sakhawat Hossain further commented that had the media presented the truth at that time, the police would not be in this situation. “The media repeatedly said nothing happened, but I saw everything on BBC,” he added.

He criticized talk shows for lacking substantive discussions and accused the media of failing to present accurate information, emphasizing that a country only collapses when the media fails to speak the truth.

The Home Affairs Adviser also criticized the former State Minister for Information, describing him as an educated man who labeled students as criminals. He argued that such actions should be judged, and the media owners should also be held accountable.

M Sakhawat Hossain concluded by urging the media to ask proper questions to the Prime Minister, rather than flattering her with trivial ones.
