The Commonwealth Journalists Association (CJA) Bangladesh and India chapters have agreed to work together to face the challenges of digitalization in media industry.

The CJA members at an Indo-Bangla joint CJA meeting on Friday also stressed on training journalists and holding workshops to cope with the developments in the digital world.

Chaired by CJA Global President Mohendra Ved, the meeting at Dhaka Club, was also addressed by CJA President Emeritus Hasan Shahriar, Bangladesh chapter’s president Saleh Chowdhury and secretary general Shyamal Dutta.

Visiting Indian delegation members Jayanta Roy Chowdhury and Kinshuk Nag, CJA Bangladesh members Zohurul Alam, Abdul Qayum Mukul, Abdul Jalil Bhuiyan, Subhas Chanda Badal, Abdur Rahman Khan, Saiful Huda, Osman Ghani Monsur, Humayun Rashid Chowdhury, Parveen Chowdhury, Mainul Alam and Zahid Newaz Khan also spoke at the meeting.

The Indo-Bangla CJA also drew up some common programmes including training on election reporting, strengthening of CJA chapters in the region, opening of new branches and enhancing communication between the regional and international chapters to make the organisation more vibrant.

The visiting Indian delegation is scheduled to attend a dinner hosted by the Bangladesh Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu tonight.

At the outset of the meeting, the members congratulated Mohendra Ved for taking over as CJA Global President.
