The HSC and its equivalent exams will be rescheduled in the flood-affected areas of Sylhet, according to Education Minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury Nowfel. The announcement was made during a press briefing following a meeting of the National Monitoring and Law and Order Committee at the Secretariat on Wednesday.
Minister Nowfel emphasized the importance of the examinees’ convenience, stating, “We do not want the examinees to suffer and their desired results be affected in any way.” He noted that the government is well aware of the weather forecast and the rising water levels in various rivers in Sylhet, which have necessitated the decision to postpone exams in the most severely affected areas.
The Minister assured that comprehensive preparations have been made, considering the movement and safety of students. “The areas where flooding is likely to spread the exams won’t be taken there initially. We have proper preparation to take those tests later,” he added.
The HSC and equivalent exams are scheduled to commence on June 30, with a total of 14,50,790 students from nine General Education Boards, Madrasa Board, and Technical Board participating. The exams will take place across 9,463 educational institutions at 2,275 centres nationwide.
This decision aims to ensure that students in the flood-affected regions are not disadvantaged. The government is committed to holding the exams in a fair, copying-free environment and is taking all necessary steps to accommodate the needs of the students.
As the country braces for potential floods, the Ministry of Education is prioritizing the safety and convenience of students. By postponing the exams in flood-prone areas, the government aims to provide a fair opportunity for all examinees to perform their best without the added stress of environmental challenges.
