Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, who turned state witness (approver) in the crimes against humanity case linked to the July-August student-led uprising, was produced before the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Sunday (August 3).
Mamun was brought to the tribunal’s custody cell at around 9:30 am.
On July 10, ICT-1 formally framed charges and initiated trial proceedings against Sheikh Hasina, Kamal, and Mamun for crimes against humanity allegedly committed during the July-August 2024 student uprising. The tribunal also approved Mamun’s request to become an approver (state witness), acknowledging his confession to the crimes and his cooperation in uncovering the truth.
