The popular band Chirkutt, having been a significant name in the music industry for over 20 years, has extended their musical ventures into films, where their songs have also gained popularity.
Individually, two members of the band, Sharmin Sultana Sumi and Pavel Areen, have been involved in cinema and advertising. This time, Pavel Areen has composed the music for a song in the upcoming movie ‘Fatima,’ with lyrics penned by Sumi, known for her vocals in Chirkutt and hits like ‘Antorhini’ and ‘Ahare Jibon.’
The song titled “Ami Shudhu Je Tomar” features the voice of Kona, a widely popular singer who rose to fame through the Channel i Star Kontho platform. This marks the first collaboration of Sumi, Pavel, and Kona in a film setting.
‘Fatima’ is set to release on May 24, directed by Dhruv Hasan. Recently, the film was nominated and awarded at Iran’s 42nd Fajr International Film Festival in the Eastern Vista competition category.
Before its release, the song “Ami Shudhu Je Tomar” sung by Kona will be released on Bangla’s YouTube channel on Tuesday night.
Since winning the Channel i Star Kontho in 2009, Kona started her professional singing career, performing playback the very next day. Over 15 years, she has sung in over a hundred films, establishing herself as a trusted voice among producers, directors, and music directors.
Last year alone, Kona offered hits like “O Priyotoma,” “Rajkumar,” “Megher Nouka,” and “Surma Surma,” enhancing her reputation as a leading playback singer. Kona considers her achievements a blessing and the result of diligent practice.
Regarding the song in ‘Fatima,’ Kona expressed, “It’s a wonderful song with a uniqueness in its lyrics and composition. Sumi Apu and Pavel are dear to me, and although we’ve known each other for many years, this was our first experience working together on a film song. I believe music lovers will enjoy this song.”
Pavel Areen shared, “Right after composing it, I knew I wanted Kona to sing this. Once recorded, I realized she sang even better than I imagined. I’m delighted that this beautiful song is about to be released.”
Director Dhruv Hasan mentioned, “When discussing the song with Pavel, we proposed Kona’s name. After recording, we were thrilled with how beautifully she performed. We are very hopeful about this song.”
‘Fatima’ features actors Yash Rohan, Tasnia Farin, Tariq Anam Khan, Manas Bandopadhyay, Sumit Sengupta, Ayesha Monika, among others. The film is produced by Bongo.
