Students of Rabindra University staged a highway blockade at the western end of the Jamuna Bridge on Thursday, demanding immediate approval and full implementation of the Development Project Proposal (DPP) for the university’s permanent campus.
The protest began in the morning when students occupied the Dhaka–North Bengal highway, halting traffic in both directions. The blockade caused long tailbacks and severe suffering for passengers.
Students alleged that despite repeated promises, the permanent campus project has not progressed due to delays in DPP approval.
They warned of intensifying the movement if the approval is not granted immediately and construction does not begin.
