RUSTON, LOUISIANA : Bangladeshi students have achieved remarkable success at the annual Graduate Research Symposium held (April 28, 2025) at Louisiana Tech University (Latech) in the United States. In the prestigious competition organized by the university’s College of Engineering and Science (COES), they won multiple top awards across various categories, demonstrating their intellectual prowess and research excellence.
The annual ‘COES Graduate Research Symposium’ took place on Monday, April 28th, in the university’s Biomedical Engineering Building. Throughout the day-long event, students presented their research work through 21 poster and 34 oral presentations. Participants hailed from various countries, leading to intense competition. Despite this, Bangladeshi students secured a significant number of the top awards.
The success of Bangladeshi students in the Oral Presentation category was particularly noteworthy:
- Mst. Nusrat Yasmin, a second-year PhD student in Mechanical Engineering, and Tulie Chakma, a third-year PhD student in Micro-manufacturing, jointly secured the First Place position, bringing honor to Bangladesh.
- Md Reazul Islam Jamil, a final-year PhD student in Materials and Infrastructure Systems Engineering, achieved Second Place.
- Aniruddha Chowdhury, a final-year PhD student in Micro-manufacturing, secured Third Place, further solidifying the trend of success.
Bangladeshi researchers also made their mark in the Poster Presentation category:
- Mohammad Tarikuzzaman, a final-year PhD student in Molecular Sciences and Nanotechnology, won Third Place, proving the excellence of his research.
Currently, over 50 Bangladeshi students are pursuing studies in various departments at Louisiana Tech University. The majority are enrolled in PhD programs, followed by students at the Master’s and Bachelor’s levels. These students come from renowned and prestigious educational institutions in Bangladesh and are recognized for their high talent. They are actively contributing not only academically but also through participation in university research and other co-curricular activities, showcasing their diverse abilities.
The Bangladeshi students participating in this symposium achieved their success competing against students from various countries, including the United States. This accomplishment reflects their intellect, hard work, and dedication to research.
This consistent success of Bangladeshi students on foreign soil undoubtedly enhances the image of Bangladesh internationally and demonstrates that, given the opportunity, Bangladeshi students can prove their excellence anywhere in the world. Their achievements will serve as a significant inspiration for other current and future Bangladeshi students at Louisiana Tech University.
